Nightmare trip at Saratoga last out as the 3-5 favorite. Broke 8 lengths behind, rushed up, then repeatedly checked while rank and full of run. The winner returned to take the G1 Bourbon over Coach Pope, while four others hit the board next out, including a Saratoga turf winner. His debut conqueror won the G1 Hopeful. This $1.9M Flightline colt for Asmussen gets Prat aboard. Zipped home in the 10/4 work from the gate here.

 

VALUE:  2 HIGHWAYMEN

They paid near $1M for this son of Curlin. He has grass deep in his pedigree but does have one who ran at the top level on the dirt. That was the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner, Tamarkuz. While Jose Ortiz rides first call for Cherie DeVaux, it’s worth noting that he is off the favorite and a few others he could have ridden in here. He’s got a fantastic worktab for how DeVaux works her horses. Likely makes a late run today.
